The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state has been mired in leadership crisis with two factions claiming supremacy.
The faction that has Hon. Nwankpa as chairman is backed by the former governor of Abia, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, while the faction led by Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe has the blessing of Chief Ikechi Emenike, a chieftain of APC.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja Yesterday affirmed the decision of the High Court in Isiala Ngwa which declared Emmanuel Ndukwuthe chairman of APC in Abia State and not Hon. Donatus Nwankpa.
Interacting with one of the lawyers representing Ndukwu and APC governorship aspirant High Chief Ikechi Emenike, Barrister Somadila Uzodinma, he made it clear that based on that decision of the court, Dr. Uche Ogah & all candidates that emerged under Donatus Nwankpa who he said was sacked by an FCT High Court sitting in Kubwa presided by Justice Ogbonnaya are to substituted with the names of Candidates that emerged through Ndukwe.
We gathered that the lawyers that appeared for Donatus Nwankpa’s faction are Barr. I.C. Nkpe and Chijoke Udeogu, while that of Emmanuel Ndukwe faction were Barrister Somadila Uzodinma and I. K Ujah.
The matter was commenced by originating summons. The court as we gathered also threw away the preliminary objections raised by the 1st defendant APC and 2nd defendant INEC was in deferment about the whole episode.
If this decision stands going forward, High Chief Ikechi Emenike may become the governorship candidate for APC in Abia State.
